Billy Pinckney is an author, speaker, and digital content creator who turned a batboy role in professional baseball into a platform for leadership, faith, and inspiration. Billy’s journey began as an 11-year-old batboy for the New Jersey Jackals, where he spent a decade inside a professional clubhouse, eventually growing into the team’s Director of Digital Content. Along the way, he worked in media, interviewed players, assisted in baseball operations, and contributed to a league championship. His love for the game wasn’t always easy. In high school, a negative team environment and poor coaching nearly pushed him to quit baseball altogether. That experience planted a deeper passion in him: to make sure young athletes never feel discouraged, unseen, or unsupported.
Motivated by that calling, Billy began writing books for children and students that blend sports, character development, and life lessons. He is the author of multiple children’s books inspired by his batboy experiences, a leadership guide for middle and high school students, and "Passion Prevails," a collection of interviews that highlights perseverance through adversity. His work emphasizes values such as kindness, curiosity, resilience, and servant leadership.
Today, Billy travels to elementary and middle schools delivering engaging author visits and assemblies that connect baseball stories to social-emotional learning and leadership principles. His programs encourage students to believe in themselves, work hard, treat others well, and pursue their purpose with confidence. A graduate of Montclair State University with a degree in Sports Communication, Billy continues to build Batboy Productions, a creative company focused on baseball storytelling, community impact, and inspiration. Whether on stage, in a classroom, or behind the camera, Billy Pinckney’s mission is simple: to help the next generation grow into strong leaders on and off the field.
